Trouble Sleeping?
A lot of my patients have been struggling with sleep lately so I thought I’d talk about it. Sleep can be off for several reasons. Sometimes we just have a lot on our mind, or we feel ungrounded and we aren’t able to settle. Sometimes some physical pain is getting in the way, or we keep waking up and not getting deep REM sleep like we would like to. In each case, Chinese Medicine has ways of treating you!
Here are some of my favorite points for sleep!
Yin Tang
This point is wonderful! It treats frontal headache, nasal congestion and sinus problems. It calms the spirit for insomnia, stress, and anxiety. This point also treats dizziness, eye pain or redness, nosebleeds, acne, facial numbness or paralysis, and hypertension. It’s also great for mental clarity for when we can’t seem to turn our racing minds off already!
Shen Men
This is one of my favorite points!
It balances out emotional issues, especially relating the the heart. It treats anxiety, insomnia and mania. It balances palpitations and regulates sweat in the body. Basically it’s like the bodies own natural Xanax. Yes Please!
Shining Sea
This point has tons of benefits! It treats insomnia, disturbed sleep with nightmares, hot hands/feet, night sweats, anxiety disorders and deep fear. It’s great for sore/dry throats. A range of menstrual issues such as amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, infertility and leukorrhea.
Great Rushing
This point is for sure in my top 5 favorite acupuncture points! If you are getting treatment by me, you already know this. It’s amazing for stress, insomnia, irritability/frustration, PMS, headaches, and general muscle tension. It’s like a big steam release!
